RALEIGH, N.C., January 5, 2006 - Lenovo today introduced two new ThinkPad models that bring a new level of performance and portability to the world’s most recognizable notebook brand, extending the battery life of its notebook computers to up to 11 hours with an extended battery. (3)

Designed around Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology, the ThinkPad X60 Series and ThinkPad T60 Series help business users move further away from the office, connecting remotely with embedded wireless wide area network (WWAN) antennas and operating longer without a power cord. ThinkPad X60 Series and T60 Series draw less power than previous X and T models for extended battery life – improving battery performance in some models by as much as 37 percent.

Intel dual-core processors improve productivity and multitasking versus previous processors, allowing users to run multiple high-performance applications – such as medical or engineering software, virus scan or system backups – that might otherwise paralyze the PC.

"Our customers want systems that are easy to use and allow them to be productive in any location – whether that's in the office, at home, in an airport or at a hotel," said Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo. "These new ThinkPad notebooks merge one of Lenovo's hallmarks – productivity technology – in new thin and light designs to give users improved performance in whatever environment they work."

Portability with a Punch
Select models of upcoming ThinkPad T60 Series and X60 Series notebooks will feature integrated high speed wireless support for VerizonWireless in the U.S. Models supporting the Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess network are planned to be available in the first-half of this year. Notebooks featuring integrated WWAN antennas enable users to connect to high-speed broadband networks without separately purchased PC cards.

The ThinkPad was the first non-rugged notebook ever to integrate a 3G WWAN antenna for Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess, which averages download speeds between 400-700 kilobytes per second (kbps). (1) All models feature a hardware switch to manually disable the system's wireless antenna.

In order to help simplify the connectivity process, ThinkVantage Access Connections 4.1 helps mobile users set up and automatically switch from one available network connection to the next, helping reduce costly help desk calls for assistance in changing IP settings, defining default printers or accessing a wireless network.(2) In addition to facilitating wireless peer-to-peer networking, Access Connections 4.1 supports wired, WLAN and WWAN connectivity.

Fresh Out of the Box 24/7
Lenovo's new System Rejuvenation technology — part of Rescue and Recovery — gets rid of the accumulated waste on the hard drive that hampers system performance and makes a system run slow. By cleaning out unused and unnecessary files and getting rid of spyware and adware, Rescue and Recovery can improve system performance and help a PC run faster.

Performance and Portability in One
With the new Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology, including the Intel® Core™ Duo processor and the Intel® Mobile 945 Express Chipset, the ThinkPad X60 Series offers increased performance with 667 MHz front side bus and 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. With a 37 percent power-use reduction from earlier platforms used in X Series models, the ThinkPad X60s features the longest standard battery life of any ThinkPad, allowing for up to 11 hours of computing.(3)

The ThinkPad T60 measures an inch thin with a travel weight of 4.8 lbs(4), giving it newfound power and performance in a thin-and-light form factor. For mobile workers, the ThinkPad T60 Series includes a more durable system design, coupling the ThinkPad Roll Cage – an inner armor chassis – with its airbag-like Active Protection System and ThinkPad shock-mounted hard drive.(5)

One Million Fingerprints and Counting
Combining Lenovo's hardware- and software-based security solution and integrated fingerprint reader, select models of the ThinkPad X60 Series and T60 Series are the most secure PCs available today.(6) ThinkPads with integrated fingerprint readers make security simple, enabling users to access password-protected personal and financial information, Web sites, documents and e-mail with a swipe of their finger while helping to protect data from unauthorized access. The integrated fingerprint reader is part of a broad set of security tools offered by Lenovo on select systems that include Client Security Solution 6.0 software and an embedded security chip. In December, Lenovo sold its 1,000,000th ThinkPad with integrated fingerprint reader, making the company the largest provider of biometric-enabled PCs in the world.

联想今天正是发布更轻更瘦的thinkpad T60笔记本电脑.T60 继承了T43设计的成功之处,搭载了最新的

intel双核移动cpu.但是其前端的斜面设计,已经与t43大不相同.
T60的具体配置如下:
处理器:采用最新发布的dual core双核芯处理器,目前消息已经证实,其直接搭载了双核处理器而跳过了

单核平台.
显示屏: 提供14.1" xga和14.1sxga+两种分辨率处理器和15.1"的xga和sxga+处理器,预计T60P将会搭载

uxga的15.1屏幕,但是现在还未公布相应型号.
硬盘:采用2.5寸 SATA硬盘,有40,60,80,100G可供选择,同时提供100G的7200转硬盘
内存: 采用ddr2 667外频内存,256M到1G不同容量. 最大支持4G内存,比原来T43 增加一倍

[1]从左侧图片可以看出,风扇位置由原来的T4x系列的中部,移到上部;除了保留了原来t4x系列的猫,网卡以及音频接口外,把视频输出接口从t4x的后测,放到了此位置,另外在下部保留了一个立式usb2.0接口
[2]右侧可以看到,除了光驱外,还在原来t4x的视频输出接口位置,变成了两个usb接口.
[3]后测可以看到,取消了打印机并口,同时增加了散热口.输入电压调整到了20V

intel 移动芯片组,x60替代原来的x32,纤细的x60s替代原来的x41系列.
X60s系列要比x60系列轻薄,因为本质上,联想所做的就是延续X30和x40系列的产品线,整合成x60系列.相

对轻薄的x60系列用在结尾加一个s(slim的英文缩写)来把二者区分开来.X60系列不同与x40系列,它采用

了2.5英寸的普通硬盘,这样更易于升级和提升性能.

总的看来,虽然采用2.5寸硬盘的x60比x41厚,但是重量控制的还是比较好的.
通过标准2.5英寸硬盘和3个usb口的布局,改善了原来x4x系列硬盘升级困难,性能相对受到硬盘制约的瓶

颈.左侧端口主要是一个usb和视频输出端口,一个网卡端口和SD卡读卡器以及一个1 Type II PC Card slot

移动双核时代 第三代迅驰平台

　　2003年1月9日，Intel正式发布了新一代迅驰移动技术平台－－Carmel；2005年1月19日Intel发布了第二代移动迅驰技术平台－－Sonoma；今天，2006年1月9日，Intel发布第三代移动迅驰技术平台－－Napa。简单地说，Napa是Intel第三代移动技术平台的名称，它由Intel 945系列芯片组、Yonah Pentium M处理器、Intel 3945ABG无线网卡模块组成的整合平台，相对于我们已经非常熟悉的第二代迅驰Sonoma平台最大的技术提升有，系统总线速率提升到667MHz，Yonah处理器推出单、双核技术并且采用65nm制程，Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG无线模块则开始兼容802.11a/b/g三种网络环境。其中，Yonah Pentium M处理器开始引入双核技术，是这次Napa发布的一项重点技术。
　　Yonah Pentium M处理器

　　在Napa平台里面，最为消费者所瞩目的莫过于采用了双核技术的Yonah Pentium M处理器， Yonah Pentium M处理器是采用65nm制程新一代移动处理器，不过仍然采用Socket 479针脚。它除了引入双核技术以外，同时前端总线速率提升至667MHz，因为双核心的存在而使用的SmartCache技术、新一代电源管理技术，以及开始支持SEE3多媒体指令集。

　　Yonah Pentium M双核是Intel第一款在移动处理器产品里面引入双核技术的产品，它在一个处理器里面植入了两个核心单元，通过SmartCache技术共享2M L2二级缓存，根据处理任务的负荷程度，在两个核心处理单元之间进行协调，然后分别同时进行指令运算，从而达到更高效的处理能力。双核技术所解决的是，并发多任务运行时整体的性能。

　　虽然Yonah双核Pentium M有两个核心，但是缓存是通过SmartCache技术来共享使用2M L2缓存，而并没有为两个核心单独设计二级缓存，因此总线速率同时提高至667MHz会相应减少处理器与芯片组之间通信存在瓶颈的可能性。

　　双核心技术的引入，虽然性能方面获得了绝对的提升，同时也提高了多任务并发运行的处理效率，但是作移动处理器产品来说，功耗有没有得到相应的控制也是消费者最为关心的方面。Yonah Pentium M处理器的产品线当中，单核Yonah处理器的功耗还是与Dothan处理器一样，而双核Yonah普通版的最大运行功率达到了31W，超低电压双核Yonah Pentium M只有9W，低电压单核15W，普通单核为27W，分别看看在Napa平台里面各个芯片的最大功耗值：

　　处理器的功耗比相应Dothan处理器保持同样的水平，而双核版的Pentium M处理器的功耗则有所提升，因此Intel引入了名为Intel Dynamic Power Coordination技术、Enhanced Intel Deeper Sleep节能技术，来使Napa平台可以更合理的根据用户的应用来调整功耗，结合Intel SPeedstep自动调频技术，Napa平台在整体功耗方面会相应到改善。

　　 Intel Digital Media Boost也是Yonah处理器引入的一个新技术，其主要就是在SSE/SSE2 Micro Ops Fusion、SSE解码器容量提高以及对SSE3指令集的支持，这一技术的引入，会增加Yonah处理器在多媒体应用方面的性能，对于家庭用户来说，其娱乐性会得到改善，比如在视频剪辑、视频播放等应用上，性能以及效果都会得到提高。

　　Intel 945芯片组系列

　　Calistoga是移动Intel 945系列芯片组的代号，相比于Intel 915系列芯片组，Calistoga芯片组提供了系统总线至667MHz，支持DDR2双通道内存，最高速率支持667MHz（PC5300），支持PCI-Express x16接口技术，Intel 945GM集成Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950显示单元，400MHz显示核心，并且提升共享系统DDR2 667MHz内存为显存。

　　Intel 945北桥相应地搭配ICH7-M南桥，支持6个PCI-Express x1接口，同时也支持PCI接口，SATA-300硬盘接口，最高支持3Gbps传输速率。另外，同样支持HD Audio音频技术。

　　有一个比较为消费者关心的是，Intel GMA950集成显卡是否能够支持Microsoft即将正式推出的Windows Vista操作系统？经过安装测试，在集成Intel GMA950显示单元的Napa平台上仍然没有办法开启Vista精致的玻璃边框效果，以及各种特效。

　　Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG无线模块

　　Napa将使用Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG无线模块，它支持IEEE 802.11a/b/g无线网络协议，并且在Napa中将一改在Sonoma以及之前的Carmel平台使用的PCI接口，开始使用PCI-Express x1接口，并且模块的规格也转为一种更小的迷你卡。

　　基于PCI-Express x1接口的WiFi迷你卡无疑最大的好处可以为机器节约一些资源，符合笔记本电脑机体尺寸向更便携的方向发展，不过就目前来看，也有部分Napa平台的工程样机仍然采用基于PCI接口的Intel 2200BG无线模块，因此在未来Napa产品中，这两种无线模块会同时存在，需要一个过渡期来完成两代无线模块的交接。

　　兼容802.11a/b/g三种无线网络协议，可以使Napa有更为广泛的应用领域，就随着迅驰技术发展起来的无线网络市场来看，目前普遍的还是兼容802.11b/g双模无线环境，而抗干扰能力更强的802.11a无线环境多用于一些特殊领域。
